Did You Know?
Bananas are radioactive

Bananas are naturally radioactive due to a presence of high levels of potassium in them, but only a small fraction of it contribute to radioactive nature of it. The main culprit to blame here is a naturally occurring radionuclides potassium-40 isotope, this isotope mainly emits beta and gamma radiations and both of these radiations are capable of damaging our tissues. But it is not to worry off.
On an average one banana emits a radiation of approx. 0.01 millirem which a very minute amount to fear off. To put it simply you would need to consume 100 bananas to encounter the same amount of radiation a person daily experiences from the natural environment. But on top of that it is not a cause for concern because the body excretes the potassium in urine.
That’s all for today, I hope you enjoyed it. Do you think we will be able to travel at this speed on Earth someday? Please share it with me along with your opinions in the comments below.
