Hello Tech Enthusiasts,

Google Search, the most popular internet search engine on the planet, is bringing some changes to the way we look up information. At the recently concluded Google I/O, the San Francisco-based tech giant announced that users who don’t want to see AI-generated previews can now check out web links under a new ‘web’ filter.
When Google was founded, the company’s vision for a search engine was pretty simple. It showed users links to websites that were relevant to the search query, but now the search engine has several layers on top of results.
For example, you might see shopping results for some queries while others may display knowledge panels or featured snippets. And with AI Overviews making their way to search results, links to websites may be pushed way down the page.

This is where the new ‘web’ filter fits in. Instead of showing knowledge cards or AI-generated Overviews, the tab will only show links to text-based web pages.

Google also clarified that mobile users won’t have to tap the ‘more’ button to see the new web filter. On the desktop, these filters are dynamically shown depending on how relevant they are to the user, but there is currently no way to arrange them according to your preferences.

Apart from AI-generated Overviews, Google is also bringing a bunch of other features to Search like organised search results and asking the search engine to plan something.
